I guess its like when a new shipment of something is on its way and the recipient knows of its arrival. They start salivating. Researching, reminiscing as the news that their joy is about to arrive is taking over their every thought. This happens to skiers and riders at the top of every season no matter what region of the world they happen live in. In the US, here is a rundown of what mountains one can likely ride if you are really longing for snow as of November 4, 2019.
I have to be honest, last year was an amazing snowboard season for me and it felt record breaking. It was one of those years where you go out on Monday and its sick. Life changing, but then you go out on Tuesday and that day is even better. I know why people live near mountains now because it never stops. It only gets better. So after such a great season, I did not think lightning would strike twice. Not saying that it will, but if the start of the seasonal snowpack out west is any indication as to what is to come, we could be in for another great skiing and riding season here in the United States.
Yes, it is very exciting to watch all of the early openings out west, but I have to be honest. I love early season enthusiasm, but I do not like riding early in the season because if you are lucky, there are two runs open and a bunch of people. Because of that, we generally let our first ride of the season take place on the east coast so we never forget our roots and so we appreciate how far in the snowboarding game we have come.Cataloochee Ski Resort opened first on the east coast but they could not remain open because of the weather.
We are looking forward to getting many days at Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Steamboat Springs, Vail and a host of others after putting in days at these resorts.
This year, the idea is to keep the momentum going so that we ride every region as it experiences winter, whether it be, North America, Canada, Europe, Japan, Argentina, Chile, New Zealand and wherever else the white powder can be had.
