I noticed Nelson in the lift line by himself, so I asked him if he wanted to get do some laps with me. Like most of us, I could see Nelson was excited to get some turns, he was grinning ear to ear on the lift ride up. Here is what he spoke of on our ride up the Snowflake lift.
NELSON - "I just look at the mountain and I smile. I just breathe deeper and I just love it. I love watching the snow in the fall when it starts snowing and out here it can be snowing in September. You start seeing the white cap mountains and I just get excited for the mountains to open."
Hi, my name is Nelson, I've been skiing gosh over 30 years now. I was born in New York, moved to the Dominican Republic when I was six. My family's Dominican. We moved to Virginia when I was 6, then when I went to college obviously in the Midwest in Michigan, then went back to the East Coast and then about 20 years ago just woke up one day went into work, resigned and moved to Colorado and skied twelve days my first month here in Colorado and I just love it. I just love it. I always grew up I was always near the water on the East Coast and stuff and I just love the mountains. I love nature.

Most of my days off are up here skiing. I was just traveling last week, I was out of town, got back last night. Got home about 3 o'clock at night. Got up in the morning and came skiing. I just ski everything it's um you know I like to ski fast I try to avoid the trees. I don't want to get hurt but I love powder and I love the bowls especially bowls like whale's tail that area here in Breck and I love the back bowls in Vail and I love to ski you know Beaver Creek also.
Linking up with locals Mason, Nick and Tom ended up providing a Christmas day bonus powder day. A little hiking, a lot of powder and sharing brews at Ollies with new friends is a great way to spend Christmas day on the mountain. (Powderhound)
We are coming on strong with new episodes of Can I Ride With You where we sit down with skiers and snowboarders and learn how they developed their love for winter sports. (Powderhound)
